The process of applying stitches
to your artwork or logo is known as “digitizing.”
The software used bears no resemblance, in any regard, to graphic design
programs generally in use for designing artwork. Having your logo complete
and saved in a useable format (PCX, TIFF, GIF, BMP, JPEG) is only the
beginning in the production of quality embroidery.
For numerous reasons, the best logo designs are the
least complex. They are more readily reproduced in stitches and they
are more easily seen and understood when they are on garments.
The average stitch count for pro-style ball caps can vary from 8,000 to 12,000
stitches with 25% coverage. The average for type-only jacket backs is 50,000
stitches. As you can see, digitizing for a pocket design varies significantly
from a jacket back. It is for this reason that each project is priced
based on total stitches and complexity. In general, we estimate a pocket
or cap setup charge at $9 per thousand stitches.
Jacket back estimates are given only after reviewing your artwork.
Embroidery is not desktop publishing.
Small, intricate line drawings, type and other design elements may be lost
in the digitizing process that prepares your artwork for embroidery. The ability
to print complex art on a printer does not mean that the artwork can be
digitized for thread and stitched on various fabrics satisfactorily.
Special effects require time.
Graduated fills,
appliqués of cloth, very small type (1/8), intricate line
drawings, add complexity to the process of digitizing. Complexity represents
time and additional expense.
Where possible, use stock artwork symbols.
We maintain a full catalog of animals, birds, fish, equipment, pets, symbols,
etc., which can be added to your text to finish your design without incurring
the cost of digitizing your “specific” fish, animal, symbol, or piece of equipment.
Just tell us what type of symbol might work and we’ll suggest a solution.
Should you only desire us to provide you with the digitized file so that
you can have your logo embroidered in your city or town, we will be glad
to email the file to you after satisfactory payment arrangements.
In any case, to initiate an inquiry for digitizing or embroidery, simply email
us (remember to “attach” a copy of your logo in one of the above formats)
and let us know what you want to do...We’ll call you back or email you and answer
all your questions at that time.
We look forward to serving you.
